Forced Action Mixer Lid Conversion

Following a customer request we set about designing a new lid. The parameters for the lid were as follows;

  • Independent door function.
  • Each door lifts to 85 degrees. (5 degrees from vertical)
  • Both doors can be opened fully, at the same time.
  • The machine must stop working when either door is lifted.

One of our major concerns with this door was safety. With this in mind we incorporated two cut off switches, one for each door. These switches would bypass all electronics on the mixer and immediately shut down the motor bringing the mixing blades to a stop.

If you take a look at picture A, To the left is the lifting mechanism, we used two jacks as seen in the drawing (left) to lift the doors. These jacks provide very easy lifting of the doors with a winding handle. The choice  of jacks instead of hydraulics or something similar is because of all the safety benefits they. These jacks are extremely unlikely to fail meaning the chance of an unexpected door closure  is greatly reduced. They are also a less expensive, more reliable alternative to hydraulics and provide the same functionality.

The door was designed with simplicity in mind, it provides a massive opening for easy access making the replacement of wearing parts and cleaning the mixer a lot quicker. The new door follows the same design principles of all of our products, All  components are standard and all wearing parts are easily replaceable.  Servicing the top end of the machine is easy, quick and parts are readily available from our parts department. Keeping your company’s down time to a minimum.
